Give your brain time to adapt

When you first wear aids, sounds you'd stopped hearing come flooding back and can feel sharp or tiring. Your brain needs time to re-learn them.

Audiologists call this acclimatisation. The evidence on the size of this effect is mixed, but there's strong agreement on the practical advice:
